Seven Tips In Choosing The Best Convertible Car Seat

When it comes to the safety of your child inside a moving vehicle, it is always best to get the right car seat so that he is always properly restrained. However, it takes a lot of time and effort just to make sure that you are getting the best one.

For many parents, they have to go through a lot of trial and error process. This is actually normal, however, can be very costly in the long run. That is why; it would be great for you to have some tips, which you can follow in order to make your life easier. Here are some tips in choosing the best convertible car seat.

Safety

Car seats are rated and the rating is based on the safety standards tests given by proper authorities. You can check out the ratings by reading product reviews from different reputable websites as well as magazines for parenting.

Comfort

Babies can become very cranky and you do not want this to happen when you are traveling. With this, you need to get a convertible seat that will keep him very comfortable. You need to make sure that it has enough cushions to support his body especially if his body is so small. Another thing to consider is that it should not feel claustrophobic; this means that the harness should not be pressing him down unto the chair.
Since the convertible seat will grow as your child grows, it has to have an adjustable headrest so that he could lean comfortably all the time.

Ease of Installation

For the car seat to serve its purpose, you need to make sure that it is easy to install. With this, it has to have a great LATCH system so that you can connect the seat unto your car with ease. You can also look for something that has a light or sound indicator to guarantee that it is properly installed.
Adjustable Straps
You need to make sure that your child is properly restrained. With this, you need to have adjustable straps so that you can put him just as easily without the worry of him being thrown off in case of a crash and so that he will not slide off. The straps would also be ideal if it does not need rethreading.
Price
Consider your budget. Never spend so much especially if you cannot afford it. With this, base your choice on how much you can afford. However, do not settle on something very cheap when you are sure about its quality. Given this, it would be better to invest on something that is durable and can last for a long time. Ideally, convertible seats can last for 5 to 10 years.

Customer Reviews

Check out what other customers have to say. You can basically base your decision by checking out the reviews. This will help you gauge whether it is the best convertible car seat for your child.
What do real parents say about their experience with this seat? Experienced users of the car seat will give you their unbiased opinion when leaving reviews.

Size

Make sure that your child is within the required weight and height limits.

Prevent Injuries From Play Equipment

The safety of children should be a top priority when considering which play equipment you want to purchase for your property. Never, ever buy equipment from manufactures that are not using designs engineered and tested to be child friendly. As the play equipment industry continues to explode, there are a lot of untested and fly-by-night companies that are showing up on the internet landscape. It is up to you to differentiate between someone who throws up a photo of their product but does little to back up their safety claims and a company who builds their products around the protection of children.

Reasons to select a children's wooden playhouse

If you are considering a new addition to the backyard for your children's entertainment, think about a children's wooden playhouse. A playhouse is versatile and can provide many fun-filled hours where little ones can truly use their imagination. That playhouse can become anything they want it to be, whether they are playing house, having a tea party, turning it into a military fort, finding a hideaway for bandits escaping from the law, or dreaming of a castle and Prince Charming on his way. Regardless of what transformation takes place in a wooden playhouse, your children are sure to find a great deal of enjoyment each time they head outside for the next adventure.

The Newest Children’s Toys

There are several new children’s toys that have been released in the past few years that make their parents go bug-eyed. The days of Legos and Lincoln Logs are over. Every few months, it seems there is a new toy that is designed similarly to these basic concepts, but has a completely different shape, design, color scheme, and objective.

The New Toys

One of my favorite new toys is Connectagons. They are circular-based shapes that have multiple holes in different places where they can link themselves together representing different sizes and shapes of polygonal designs depending on how many holes they have in them. They can be octagonal, hexagonal, or a variety of other –agonals. The primary difference is that they don’t make rectangular shapes when connected together, they can make a variety of different circular style sculptures and designs that children can play with and recreate and redesign in ways that are unimaginable when compared to Legos.

Solar Power Toys

Some of the new designs for the new millennium involve an educational platform influencing the importance of ecological factors. There are a slew of solar powered toys that are designed for kids ranging in age from babies to teenagers. Some of the more interesting ones are cars and trucks that are designed to be plugged into a separate garage-type implement that contains a solar panel on top of it. When the cars are charged, they automatically move around and can be played with for hours and then recharged. This brings a whole new platform of teaching children the dangers of batteries both to themselves and to the environment.

Old Toys – New Twists

Several of the older toys are still in use, but with a twist. Marbles are still a major selling point with children, but now they have designed courses to dump marbles along that can easily stick, and more importantly un-stick, to a wall. There is also a new design for the typical set of Jacks. There is a new game that consists entirely of oddly shaped bouncy balls. Instead of a spherical bouncy ball and a group of jacks, the game is entirely oddly shape balls where one child bounces a ball and has to predict the angle it will bounce back up while picking up other bouncy balls, but one other child can throw a ball during the first child’s turn and then the first child has to catch them both or drop all the balls they were able to pick up. Not only does this game become increasingly fun for children as its mostly unpredictable, but it teaches children the basics of geometry and angles and their effect on our world.

Lasers and Legos

Legos have been one of the few toys that have generally kept up with the times, however there are more and more companies taking the basic idea of Legos and expanding on it. For instance, a new toy out there is essentially a Lego-design where things can be built using different styles of blocks and bricks and other shapes, but they are all somewhat translucent, which is where the difference comes in. Children can then connect them to a laser and watch the laser bounce through the blocks. This teaches children about light and certain aspects of physics.

As fall is here and Christmas is coming up, it’s time for parents to start thinking about how they are going to afford these new toys for their children, they may need something like payday cash loan lender in order to pick up the extra cash for Christmas.James Jungang is an experienced writer and blogger on children’s toys, as well as an avid user of children’s toys. 3 Things You Forgot About Planning a Baby Shower

Congratulations! Your family’s big day is nearly here, and you have a new bouncing baby on the way. At this point, you probably feel buried under a huge to-do list, medical appointments, and other arrangements. You may feel that your baby shower plan, at this point, is nearly infallible. However, you may be wrong. Read on for a list of 3 things you forgot about planning a baby shower:

1. Baby showers should be planned well in advance. You should have ample time to select menus, a venue, a host or hostess, and to pick out and send out your baby shower invitations several weeks in advance, via good old fashioned mail. If you do not plan your shower well in advance, guests may not attend, may already have other plans, or may not know what gifts to purchase. Let them know now by setting up all the details well in advance. This will also make your shower go much smoother when the actual event occurs.

3 Little Known Potty Training Tips for Boys

Taking care of toddlers or young ones should not be an exasperating moment for parents. However, potty training is one of the toughest times for both parents and children. Many parents are getting frustrated with ineffective training methods for the little boys. The young one may be desperate also to be free from diapers when going out, which is important for parents to be firm in potty training boys.

One of the common problems that many parents face is when to start potty training toddlers. For a successful potty training, it is best to start it when the toddler is already ready. It is the first known tip when training a male toddler in using the toilet.  If the parent begins the training and the child is not ready, the process can take longer to complete.

Save Your Baby From Toxic Disasters!

Warning: Information found in this article may result in worry, concern and action.

The scariest things when you are a parent are the dangers that you cannot see with the naked eye.  Your baby completely relies on you for everything, and because he or she cannot speak or communicate clearly, it is up to you to determine baby’s needs.  You would think the safest place for the baby is in the nursery. It sounds correct in theory, but the test results are in and there are many dangers right under your child’s nose that can harm your baby permanently. I know it sounds very serious and it absolutely is, but luckily there are measures you can enforce to save your baby from toxic disasters.  Read further if you want to know...

Paints: The very first culprit is the paint used for your nursery walls. One of the best ways to change the mood and feel of the nursery, but unfortunately, most wall paint has Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) that emit gases long after they have dried. VOCs can cause certain cancers, irritation to eyes, nose and throat, damage to central nervous system and more.  The best solution is to purchase paints with low VOCs or air out your nursery for several weeks even after paint dries.

Baby Furniture: You can have the most expensive baby furniture, but the manufacturer may still use finishes with formaldehyde and VOCs, resulting in cancers, organ damage, headaches and more. Your baby will spend the majority of the time sleeping and playing in the baby crib, so be sure to look for baby furniture that uses low-VOC finishes like those at http://www.simplybabyfurniture.com/shop-cribs-by-style-natural-organic.html or try to purchase unfinished baby furniture and apply low-VOC finish yourself.

Crib Mattresses: This may be the most dangerous culprit and could possibly be the reason for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDs). By law, crib mattresses are treated with flame-retardants and chemicals for waterproofing.  It’s scary to know that your baby can be exposed to toxins such as polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyurethane foam, antibacterial agents and other waterproofing additives.  Health effects include possible SIDs, early onset puberty, immune suppression, blurred vision, skin and throat irritation, allergies and more.  Safe alternatives include organic crib mattresses or wrapping your crib mattress with food-grade polyethylene plastic that does not contain phthalates or unsafe additives.

Linens and Clothing: Everything from baby bedding, clothing, washcloths and bibs may contain toxins such as pesticides, formaldehyde, harmful dyes and more. Best practice is to wash linens and clothing with fragrance-free detergent several times before use, or invest in 100% certified organic cotton items.

Toys: Most toys are mass produced with plastic that contains Bisphenol A (BPA).  Long-term health risks include early onset puberty, neurological issues, brain tumors and more. Your best bet is to opt for organic cloth and wooden toys.  Even electronic toys are unsafe and difficult to recycle.

Plants: One of the best natural and inexpensive solutions to purify the air are houseplants. It is Mother Nature’s air filtration system and the best natural way to absorb toxins, pollutants, balance indoor humidity and releases pure oxygen. There are tons of air purifying plants so do your research on what fits your tastes, but make sure the plant is non-toxic if ingested.

Now believe me, I know you already have many stresses to deal with, but if you plan ahead and make the necessary precautions, you will help save your baby from toxic disasters before it is too late.  Congratulations on your new baby and I hope this information will help guide you to a safer and natural nursery.

How to Prevent Childhood Separation Anxiety

There's no doubt that you want to be the best parent you can be. You want to show your children as much affection as possible, respond to their fears, and make sure that they're as happy as they can be.
But there are times that all of that affection can actually be a problem. It's possible that you can actually be the cause of separation anxiety in your child – by performing behaviors that can increase the likelihood of your child developing the disorder. That's why it's important that you know what you can do to prevent separation anxiety and help your children cope with the stresses of being away from you.

What it takes to Prevent Separation Anxiety

•    Desensitize Your Child
The first thing you can do is try get your child used to being alone long before you plan to drop them off in a strange place. You can do this by getting them used to each stage of the leaving process. First, have a stranger (someone you know and trust, like a close friend) in the room with you as they play. Then leave the room for a while with the stranger watching them. Then, as they get used to that, leave the house all together but stand outside. Finally, leave in 5 to 10 minute increments. Only move on to the next stage when your child is used to the first stage. Repeat this process in other places besides your house so they're used to different surroundings.

•    Don't Reward Fear
When you drop your child off somewhere, what you need to do is not acknowledge of reward the fear. Your child is bound to feel worried about you leaving them. They may even cry and try to get you to pick them up. You should avoid this as best you can, because what it does is it tells the child that if they are stressed, anxious, or scared, all they need to do is come to you. That may sound like a good thing, but eventually you'll have to leave, and when you do the child will need you more and you won't be there.

•    Have Shorter Goodbyes
It's also important that you don't have long, extensive goodbyes. You need to act like you leaving is no big deal. If you spend a lot of time hugging your child and acting like you leaving is a big deal, then you'll increase your child's energy and anxiety while you're still there. Once you leave, that anxiety will improve drastically, because the long out goodbye will make your absence more noticeable.

•    Have Shorter Hellos
It's not just the goodbyes that matter. No matter what your child is going to feel some anxiety while you're gone, even if they had a great time. When you come back, it's important not to make a big deal out of it. Children are smart, and if you come back and act like you're so happy to see them again (as though you thought something may go wrong when you were gone), your child is likely to respond with more fear in the future, believing that they have reason to be worried.

Controlling This Anxiety
Separation anxiety in children can be a serious issue. What's worse is that it often comes from parents that were unaware that their affections were actually producing a negative reaction in their children, despite the positive intentions. Remember, part of helping your child develop involves making sure that they react correctly to different environments, and in some cases that means that you have to avoid some of your natural parental instincts.

Shoes for your Baby

Any mom wants her baby to look adorable from head to toe, and while clothes are not too hard to pick out, what about baby shoes? While there are an enormous amount of cute shoes out there on the market, moms have to think about what is comfortable for their babies and whether or not the shoes they buy for their baby are affecting their child’s foot health. Foot health is extremely important for a growing baby. There are 26 bones in a baby’s foot, and while the baby gets older, their bones need to grow, so the right shoe is essential. Here is some helpful information about your baby’s feet and shoes.

Baby Shoes
When Can Babies Wear Shoes?
When it comes to newborns and even older, babies are not necessarily supposed to wear shoes. While many moms go out and buy shoes to complete an adorable outfit, shoes are not necessary for a new baby. The first few years of your baby’s life are essential for your baby’s growth and therefore any form of restricting shoes can be harmful to your baby’s growth.

At home, it’s always better for babies to be barefoot, and it may also be more comfortable for them. If you want to go out with your baby, make sure you have socks and for newborns, booties are fine. Shoes don’t necessarily come into play until they are a little older, and there is no specific age for when a baby should wear shoes. However, when you do want to pick out a shoe for your baby that is comfortable and healthy, you should choose soft soled shoes.

What are Soft Soled Shoes?
Soft soled shoes are flexible and comfortable. Soft soled shoes tend to fit to your baby’s foot and not the other way around. Instead of having your baby’s foot form to the shoe, soft sole shoes are designed to fit your baby’s foot to provide maximum comfort and to make sure they are not restricting in any way. A soft sole shoe is made to mimic bare feet so that your baby’s growing process is not hindered in any way. Hard soled shoes can be painful and can be detrimental to your baby’s foot health, so make sure you choose soft soled shoes when picking out shoes for your baby.

How to Buy the Right Shoes
When buying shoes for your child, you should make sure they allow maximum comfort and growth. Initially you want to measure your baby’s foot, both length wise and width wise. There are all kinds of different shoes for your child just like there are for adults, including wide and narrow shoes. Once you find out whether your baby has a wide or narrow food, and the size of his or her foot, it is a lot easier to find the right shoe. The wrong sized shoes can be really uncomfortable for your baby and can be detrimental to your child’s foot health.

Check to make sure your baby’s shoe fits well. The shoe should not be too big or small. There should be half an inch of space between the toes and the tip of the shoe and your baby’s heel should not come out of the back of the shoe.

Too Much TV is Bad – Better Activities for Kids

Too much of anything is obviously bad. That goes the same thing for TV usage. For adults, I don’t think that watching too much TV is a huge problem. After all, we are preoccupied with reports from work and house chores. But what about your kids?

In this article, I’m going to list down the most common effects of watching too much TV on your kids. Plus, I would give advice on better ways to kill time.

Effects of too much TV
Exposure to sex and violence:  Sex and violence are too much to handle for your kids. They won’t be able to understand such things. Worst, they might copy those at an early age. Of course, I couldn’t solely blame TV shows for the increase in number of teens taking the wrong path. But I think that they have a huge impact on our kids. You would see a lot of TV shows glamorizing vices such as smoking, drinking and gambling. You would find commercials that are sexually provocative. It’s just everywhere and your kids might have that notion that it’s cool to have vices, that’s it’s cool to engage in sex at an early age. Creepy isn’t it? That’s what I thought too.

Overweight: If your kids are watching TV most of the time, then there is less time for him to do physical activities. He would just lie down on the couch with his favourite potato chips and spend his free time watching series. In a matter of months, your kid will be gaining alarming pounds!

Low grades in school: To be honest, TV shows can be addicting. If you will not control your child, he might be glued to the screens. And because of that, he might neglect his homework and exams. The result: poor performance in school.

What do you have to do?
Create a strict schedule. You might want to have a strict schedule on when your kids can watch TV. You must do your research first. Check which programs are suitable for your kid’s age. Also, make sure that it will not interfere with their study habits.
Place TV in the common area. We wouldn’t want our kids to watch on their own primarily because there are programs which contain violence. Again, it would be too much for them to handle. You can monitor their TV behaviour only if you will put your TVs in a common area, say, your living room.
Have a plan for the weekend. Wouldn’t it be fun to go for a swim this weekend? I bet trekking is a good activity too. Or if there are fun runs, why don’t you register the whole family? Set plans which are physically challenging. Movie marathon isn’t exactly what you would like to plan. If you don’t want to travel, you might want to make an obstacle course in your backyard and think of a great game for the kids.
Get your board games. Challenge your kid’s brains. Board games are fun. And you can also add a twist on your game. I think you can come up with funny consequences for those who will lose the game.
I’m not saying that watching TV is all that bad. After all, there are shows which are educational and informative. Then again, you will have to moderate your kid’s watching schedule. If not, I already the listed the possible effects, didn’t I?

How Toys Educate Your Children

There is a gamut of toys available to children these days. Some toys entertain while other teaches children valuable lessons. Children are like sponges as they learn new things through play. This led to the concept of the use of toys as excellent teaching tools. If you are a parent suffering stress and anxiety over which toy is beneficial for your children, then you came to the right place.

Toys as keepers of children’s imagination
