Choosing Kids Footwear

It becomes an exciting moment when a toddler is first seen with tottering steps. At this time, parents think about appropriate footwear for their baby. Shopping for shoes is an interesting thing for parents, but no fun for kids. Shoes provide safety and comfort to the child.

Keeping everything in mind, parents should choose the appropriate footwear for their child. A baby’s feet becomes healthy and develops well when they first start walking barefoot. It is recommended not to buy shoes until your child starts to walk. Till then you can put soft booties or skid-free socks on their feet. When your child is quite able to wear shoes, take him/her to the best kids’ footwear store. Go for the trial; make your child wear the shoes.

Check whether he/she is able to walk and run comfortably. Kids usually run a lot on their feet and get much sweaty. You can choose soft leather or canvas shoes which are quite cozy and breathable. Look for flexible shoes and make sure it bends in the middle and front as well. Avoid buying shoes with lace as your kid may trip and fall down. Some shoes come with traction in the sole that limit baby’s fall. Shoes with heel look pretty cute, but it’s not recommended for kids. It limits proper feet development and brings uneasy in walking. Kids grow fast and their feet too.

You should periodically check whether your child’s shoes are still comfortable or not. Toes bending upwards or worn out toes indicates improper fitting. If you find red spots on their feet, then it’s time to go for a new pair of shoes.
