3 Things You Forgot About Planning a Baby Shower

Congratulations! Your family’s big day is nearly here, and you have a new bouncing baby on the way. At this point, you probably feel buried under a huge to-do list, medical appointments, and other arrangements. You may feel that your baby shower plan, at this point, is nearly infallible. However, you may be wrong. Read on for a list of 3 things you forgot about planning a baby shower:

1. Baby showers should be planned well in advance. You should have ample time to select menus, a venue, a host or hostess, and to pick out and send out your baby shower invitations several weeks in advance, via good old fashioned mail. If you do not plan your shower well in advance, guests may not attend, may already have other plans, or may not know what gifts to purchase. Let them know now by setting up all the details well in advance. This will also make your shower go much smoother when the actual event occurs.

 2. Remember to plan plenty of games and activities to keep everyone busy. These may seem like a no brainer, but showers can often be a social even that may last for hours. Just when you think you have planned more than enough games and events to fill the time, plan a few more as backup, just in case. The last thing you want is for guests to be bored while at their loved one’s baby shower. There are lots of game ideas, crafts, and activities that everyone can participate in together. Keep a list to remind yourself of extra things you can do during the occasion.

3. Consider the expectant mother’s health needs. Serving lots of drinks, and unhealthy snack or convenience foods may seem like a good idea for easily and cheaply entertaining guests. However, you should also have a variety of health snacks, menu option, and virgin drinks on-hand for the expectant mother who is doing her best to keep herself healthy for her child. This is especially important if you want to invite other guests with children, or who may be expecting themselves. Planning a baby shower is a serious responsibility, and there are a lot of details that must be carefully considered. The three above are simply things that may have innocently slipped through the cracks! be sure to take care of them today to make your upcoming baby shower the best it can possibly be.
