Tips for Cleaning & Sanitizing Baby Toys

Babies often love to keep them busy with toys. But literally, they are unaware of the dangers that exist while playing. There stuff may have been exposed to germs and other harmful elements. There are possible chances that a baby will have infection and skin irritation. Here, parents should play there vital role to monitor their child and keep them healthy with clean toys. Key Recommendations for cleaning specific toys:- Electronic Toys: These are delicate, sensitive toys which needs special care. Carefully, wipe them with mild water or recommended solution so that they dry up quickly. Remove the batteries before cleaning and never submerge the toy in water. Once wiped, clean the toy with dry paper towel. Also check the instructions mentioned on the manufacturer’s label. Bath Toys: This type of toy is vulnerable to water contamination as it typically remains in wet conditions. First, squeeze water completely out of the toy, and then dry it under the sun. If there will be any residual water inside a toy, it can quickly turn to mold. Do not use bleach to clean which contains harsh chemicals. It can affect your baby’s delicate skin. 

You can use vinegar and water solution mixed equally to wash the toys. Stuffed Toys: Detergent with mild nature is only recommended to wash this kind of toy. You can either wash them with your hand or use your washing machine. Toy which has plastic joints or come with sounds should not be washed in washing machine. 

Clean with dry cloth as water can damage it. Never use bleach as the chemicals can be difficult to remove completely. Plastic Toys: The presence of BPA (bisphenol) in plastic toys makes them unsafe to use. But, still they are sold and used extensively. You can wash them in dishwater. Using mild soap water can also be an ideal option to clean plastic toys. Another good option is to wash them with warm water which can effectively kill the germs. 

Wooden Toys: It’s not that easy to clean and sanitize wooden toys. However, combination of white vinegar and water works well on them. Use dampen scrubbing sponge to clean the toys. Make sure you do not make the toys too wet as it can affect the product. It’s always better to follow the instructions marked on manufacturer’s label. Clean and sanitize your baby’s toy regularly, especially if he/she plays often with it.
